I've been on the water for the few weeks. We don't have many bookings this week, so I decided to take a few days off and hang out with my visiting sister-in-law and two young nephews for a couple of days.

The halibut fishing has been great, but the king fishing has been spotty. I nailed three kings last weekend, and only had one bite since. Most folks are pretty disappointed in this year's king run in Cook Inlet. Our largest halibut so far is 175#, and we've had a few others at 100#.

I've taken lots of cool people fishing, including a squadron of F-15 pilots and another group of F-22 pilots. Talk about cool stories! Those guys were a hoot to fish with!

All-in-all, I can't complain about my charter gig. I'm getting paid to take folks fishing, I get to run some pretty cool equipment, and I'm not footing the gas bill. I'm not flying a fighter jet, but I can probably say I've got the second best job this summer.
