I was talking to ODFW last week, and the person said the deer draw was going to be June 6th with notification by post card. I don't see any location on their website to check.

I am waiting for a tag for the High Cascade buck hunt. ;\)

Yup, the draw result is up now! I checked, and I did draw a West High Cascade (119A) tag. I will be hunting with a nephew who lives in the area, and has hunted this area.

HunterJim, that's great!

It's kind of funny how it worked out for me. I got my group to go along with the idea of a Hells Canyon pack-in spike elk hunt. But we want to accumulate points. So the powers that be (Party leader) decided to put us in for Desolation Bull tag as our first choice, on the theory that we probably wouldn't get it, and then the HC tag as second choice. We'd have an 80% chance of getting that tag as our second choice.

Well, we got the Desolation bull tags!

This is actually a GOOD thing because after we all decided to try for the HC tag, I was offered a hunt on a ranch in Colorado which I gladly accepted. This was going to make things pretty intense timing wise with the HC hunt. Now, it will be MUCH better... I've always been in the first group to get to camp, get things set up, cut firewood, etc... while others have dragged in as late as the night before opening season (to a fully set up camp!)... so this year, I think I can get away with being the guy who drags in the day before the hunt.

That nets me two or three more days hunting in Colorado!

I also got the blacktail doe tag I wanted, which goes from Nov 15 to the 25th. It's great because everything else is all done by then.

I have tags for (1) "any elk", one bull elk, a mule deer buck, a blacktail buck, and a blacktail doe. Plus I can buy an OTC cow elk tag in Colorado.

(3) elk
(3) deer

Yee-HAW!

Struck out on sheep and goats and put in for points on everything else. I will spend about 2 weeks chasing elk in Wyoming and 10 or 12 days fishing for summer run steelhead.

I have enough points now that I can do any deer, elk, bear, or pronghorn hunt in the state. Plans are to commit to an entire season for one or the other in the coming years. 1Minute

Didn't even waste my time....

it is just amazing the number of tags that seem to go to the Portland, Salem, Eugene, Ashland and Bend crowds... ya know, the one's who are rewarded for voting Democrat...

All of this draw stuff... Portlanders get tons of draw tags, yet many folks all over Oregon, can't even go hunting in their own neighborhoods or home turf, because F & W labels those areas as Draw Areas...

There is something majorly wrong with that....and I'd have the same opinion, whether a hunter or not, a resident of Portland or not, or getting every draw tag I put in for...

Too many rural locals can't hunt on their own home turf, so that F & W can have draw tags and make extra money off of it...and the political party in control that appoints the F & W board, rewards the areas that keep voting democrats into office.. and then they sell the program as fair to all Oregonians...

I call BS...

Ya, I've heard to many people talk about there buddy at F&W that helped them get the tag that should have been 5-10 pts and they draw every other year. There was even an admistrator a couple years ago that got pegged for it. I put in for pts the day before I flew out of Oregon last year. I would have drawn some nice tags this year.

Holy crap Seafire, how can you possibly lump Bend in with THAT bunch of liberal meccas?!!!!!!! Take it back!!!!

Besides, there's still a lot more red than blue in the city of Bend, and I went 0 for 3 on the draw, so it must be the W. valley that is sucking up all the tags..... \:\(

Interesting idea, that registered democrats get preference in the drawing.
