A farmer has a problem: Pigs are coming in and destroying crops. There is no way to shoot them safely where the damage is being done, and they normally hide out in a swamp so thick that it is impossible to hunt. The solution is to set up on them in a very small spot that can be safely shot from 100 to 200 yards. What is a smell bait that is small enough to carry in and will draw them in from a bit of a distance long enough to get a shot? I'd appreciate any thoughts on this.

I have used some stuff I got at wallyworld called "Hog Heaven" with some success. I,also, make some using a 5 gallon bucket, corn, beer, sugar and water. I fill the bucket about 1/3 full of corn, add 1-2 cups of sugar, 2 16oz beers, and then fill up the bucket with water. Mix well, cover, and let ferment in the heat for a few days. This has worked great for me. Good Hunting!

Try taking a post-hole digger and digging 2 or three holes 3 feet deep or so....fill them with corn and pour any other smelly stuff (hog heaven, beer, no dont waste beer) over the top...they will tear the place up so keep that in mind, but they cant stand that corn in the ground and will spend alot of time trying to dig it up and you can work on them.....shoot all you can but we have found it is never enough...they are true survivors.....

My family and friends trap pigs to sell. Don't overwork baiting for pigs. It is quite simple.
Simply fill a bucket with corn and fill it 1/2-3/4 with water. Add something very sweet (soda, your sugarly attractant from Wally World, etc.) to get her to th top of the bucket. Put the lid on and stick in the sun for 2-3 days.
Remove lid to "make sure" and then quite simply dump on ground.
If you've got that many it sounds like a trap is a perfect solution...

I've found that all the "hog juice" mixtures work, although I wouldn't waste beer on a pig either. If you can set up a feeder they will find regular corn just as well and having a timer can help you figure out when you need to be sitting there.

Horse sweet feed also works well...that is what we used to bait traps when we were trapping.

a cup of mollasas mixed in a gallon of milk,a couple of packs of pancake mix, stir well and let set in the sun two-three days then place out as bait in a plastic 5 gallon bucket ,there won,t be much problem finding it from down wind, AND, DON,T SPILL ANY IN YOUR TRUCK
