Which one would you rather have and why?
I've studied on it a long time now and I am going to order one or the other from Cooper. Help me make up my mind.

'250AI, 'cause I hate trimming cases, and VERY good .22-250 brass is far easier to find than VERY good .220 Swift brass.

I own both calibers but my guns have a different twist, the 22-250ai is faster and will shoot heavier bullets than my Swifts.
The Swift is a classic caliber which has some draw for me... I use a RCBS X-Die and have found that the die works!!! Trimming has been drastically reduced. No need to fire form. Factory loads are available but then again the ai will also shoot factory rounds.
I would pick the Swift if all else was the same

I would do the 22-250AI with a fast twist. .220 swift is soooo 2007.

How about a 220 Swift AI? 
Short note here. I'm an old fart so, you youngsters listen a bit. Someday, if you're lucky, you'll understand. And please, TAKE NO OFFENSE from my ramblings? None intended.
Wildcats, all the techy stuff, IS fun, neat, great to run the numbers on etc, etc. After ALL , a Swift WAS a wildcat!
Once a half century ((OR MORE)) of ups and downs, memories, things get taken from you, lost, wear out ......things will, may, I bet are gonna... change. One of the great things about aging. IMO
At least they did for me. You'll still love the New and (Ackley) Improved stuff, lol, but nastalgia will grab you by the short hairs and all of a sudden you'll say . "HEY! That old stuff is even better today than it used to be..........AND AT LEAST AS GOOD, if not better than the newer ones, at least for me and what I use em for.
Soooooooo, SWIFFFFTTTTTTTTTT is my reply. A combo of OLD (1935 wildcat off a 6mm Navy, aka 220 Swift) combined with NEW ( Holy CRAP, I cant get over the BULLETS and POWDER we have to choose from, i.e. Barnes Varmint Grenade/TSX etc) prehaps in a (see enclosed  ) 700 VS SF (or self built sweetie) for me.

If your willing to mess around with a 22-250 AI then you might as well go with the 220 AI or rocket what ever you want to call it. My pap talked me out of the 250AI by saying if you want speed start with the biggest and make it bigger. I did and never looked back that was 14 years ago and now I have 2 rockets that just came back sat. from South Dakota were they both worked great out to 800yds. And you don't have to worry about brass flow with the AI or rocket.

jghoghunter-hmm, I've been more than a bit around the AI's but never gave much thought to doing it to the Swifto...?
Doesn't flow the brass much eh?
I won't do a regular Swift anymo, but you may just of given me another reason to retube my old 77 into a Swift AI

some of the older farts around here have had 220 swifts and many complained about them being finicky to load for,Ive had several 22-250s not a fussy in the bunch each one was very easy to load for and didnt care what bullet powder comination you loaded up and pretty much just blew em all right thru the same hole,22 varminter here..........

In addition to the brass flow question I wonder how you feel the Swift AI would work and run in a M77 long action? I happen to have an old Tang 270 that's toast and I'd love to turn it into a Swift.

I have 2 swifts and use them both but now I have found out how to form 243 Winchester brass into 22-250AI dimensions without fire forming. so now I am in the process of building a 22-250AI

If you really want to reach out and touch some "thing" go to a 22-243 Middlested or a 22-284 Valkyrie. Of course you "youngsters" out there probably haven't heard of those "oldies". A fast twist for bullets in the 75-80 gr range and you make the standards look like 45-70's in velocity and trajectory...but these tools are not for the unwashed masses...they are "spedcialized" for those discerning enough to go beyond the mundane. No flame intended. 
Or...maybe get out of the slow boat to China with a 6mm-284 or a 6mm on the SRUM/WSM cases. You want REAL velocity get out of the 220 Swift/22-250AI rut and step up to the other world of speed. Hahahahahahah
Hey...with the right bullet you don't have anything but small pieces and parts or a red spot to scatter all over the net.
