If that's Marathon, TX it must have rained a whole bunch for the conifer growth.
Thought this was a ranch bull out of CO.

Conifers?..... If that bull shed velvet anywhere near conifers, there would be some color from the rubs........

If you search google for 540 bull you will come up with many hits including this same bull with the same pics from as far back as May, 2007 making it a 2006 bull. I guess I would tend to believe that if it was a legit bull it would have been hailed as the bull that stomped the former record. That it hasn't lived other than a few pics and no other press, I am inclined to lean towards it being an internet dream or a high fence hybrid..Your thoughts may be diferent and that's OK with me...

Huntsman,
I was loking at the conifer trees on the ridges in the background. I concur about the whiteness of the antlers due to lack of sap, wood and soil pigments, and the early season of his demise.

Guys, that bull is from a private elk ranch in Colorado.

I know this 100% for fact, and I have held that very rack in my hands! The bull was shot by a guy from Texas. He has some relation to Dickies clothing company. My friend did the taxidermy work on the bull, and I mounted his friends bull (taken from the same farm) that scored around 400.

Funny part is, the rack is all white in the pics, and they stained it before they even brought it into the shop. This bull was shot off an elk farm, not a private ranch! I had to repair the holes in the ear from the tags.

Hard to see in these low resolution photo's, but in the top picture there's a silver ear tag.

It was shot in Colorado, just south of Rifle.

I think they should make a law where the ear tags have to be LEFT IN.

And of course it has to be some big city azzwipe that makes the rest of us Texans look bad.
