I dont know a single Alaskan that owns a 338 Fed, the WM offers way to much more for those looking for a medium grade thumper. I do know a bonehead I work with that bought a box of 338 Fed ammo by accident for his 338 WM does that count?

I'm under the impression it equals the -06 out to 300yds? Wonder if the larger diameter bullet makes it even better? Some carry 7-08's for spring black bear. It ain't no 7mm mag. Still folks do it for the same reason I'd take a 338fed over the -06 at modest ranges.

Nice lite-weight package like a Montana.

Just hopeing to hear more about the Fed.

Aint no comparison between ammunition available for the 30-06 and the 338 Fed and I would say most hunters up here buy ammo not reload ammo. Buying ammo locally is pretty much a no brainer too as we cant order loaded factory ammo. I dont see how the 338 Fed trumps anything, but to each his own. If I need or want to use a 33 cal its cuz I want umph, not near 30-06 performance if that makes any sense. 7mm-08's are not the norm for most hunters either and once again I dont know anyone personally that uses a 7mm-08. Folks aside from the gun loonies up here stick with what has worked for a long time, 30-06, 300WM, 338WM and 375 H&H. Slip a 270 Win and a 7mm in there on the occassion and then theres the WSM crowd which has grown quite a bit in the lightweight packages with all that you've got most Alaskan hunters covered.

338 caliber bullet at 308 velocities, can't imagine it not working.

Direct a good slug to the right location and I'm thinking the results will be the same with it as it is with about 832 other cartridges.

Always thought it would be neat to have a Win 88 or Sako Finnwolf chambered for the 338 Fed/338-08. Stoke it with a good 200 or 210 bullet or lighter TSX and seems like it would be a nice little rifle. Maybe have it stocked full length...

Something I'll probably never do, but it might be neat.

Yeah, I've got time, just have a ton of other gun-related projects that I think I might prefer to do. Someday, maybe.

Wish I'd have been born rich instead of soooo good-looking...

Besides, I've got to figure out a way to talk you out of that 6.5 MS...

Steelhead's, got it right the 338 Federal in a 6 pound rifle including scope (here is where a light wieght scope is worth while) is neat and deadly combination when teamed with the 210 grain TSX

Check out the damage to the Zebra
s heart the 210 TSX did (the bullet exited) the shot was about 100 or so

It's a curse being good looking, but I've managed and I'm certain you can!

I can be talked out of any rifle, I'm a sucker for takedowns.

Well, I'm a little light on the takedowns now. Sold the 500 Jeff takedown. Don't have anymore.

I could probably locate a Tikka or Savage 110 for you around town somewhere though...

.338Fed in an AR10 would be fun, perhaps.
