Has anyone used one of these on their Ruger? Opinions?
Doesn't look too lightweight, what does it weigh? Are there any better options out there? How would this stock compare with the HS precision, I have one of those now. Thanks!

I have one on a 338WM in Magnum fill. I dont think the stock is all that heavy though the gun kinda is. I also intend to get one for my newly acquired Ruger Mark II in 30-06 but will go with standard fill. Its amazing to me how much more enjoyable my 338WM is to shoot with the Mc as opposed to plastic.

Thanks for the response! My biggest complaint with the HS is the "one size fits all" barrel channel. Way too much gap with the thinner 280 barrel for my tastes. It fits very nice on my 338WM action though.
Will MCM build the channel for the standard sporter barrel I wonder? If they won't I think I'll just spend my money on a pac-nor that matches the contour on the magnum cartridges. Problem solved.

The hunter stock is a bit over 2 lbs. I have two. A tang safety M77 and a post 64 model 70. Both have #5 lilja barrels.
A friend had a Mark II in 30-06 with the same stock. He lives in PHX so he dropped off the rifle for fitting.
I am certain McMillan can mill the barrel channel to fit the barrel on your rifle. If not a gunsmith can easily open up the channel.

It's not that the channel would need to be openned up but material added to close it up Just to give you an idea of the gap in the channel on my HS here are a couple of pics. Same stock on the 280 and then on the 338. The pictures don't do it justice, it is a huge difference.

Just a correction, I just realized that I have the Ruger Classic not the Hunter. I think the Classic is a wee bit lighter than the Hunter. Can anyone confirm that?

I just looked at the two and decided on the classic for my 338 winnie. The ruger classic is the same as the sako classic.

By the looks of the butstock on each I would say your probably right. I think the forearm is narrower on the hunter though so that might save a little weight.
