Never thought I'd see one of these in Sydney, Australia. Just joined the ULA/NULA club on Friday last. It's a ULA (not NULA) Model 24 in 30-06 with 3-9 x 40 Vari X II. Incl. scope caps it weighs exactly 5lb 8oz. Not sure the barrel profile but looks like a No.1 at 22 inches.
Now that I have hefted one I can relate to the passionate owners who post here. Gun was manufactured in 1995 and is still as new. Wow it is just so smooooth. The bolt just glides & the trigger breaks like glass. The balance, Uh its just as all have cracked it up to be. Simply superb!
The previous owner was a real nice guy and super gun looney like most of us here. Unfortunately, some neck problems from an accident led him to sell it. He gave me some handloads so I am off to the range soon to test. He told me it is very accurate.
Christmas was in June this year!!!

I have (2) NULA's in 270 & 300 WSM's. Both are superb and very accurate. Congratulations, you will love it!

I got a model 24 in 30/06 last september. It is unbelievable how a gun that light can shoot so well. You can't appreciate the balance until you've fired one from field positions.I hope you enjoy your NULA as much as I have mine.

JohnT,
I have had my M24 NULA .30-'06 for going on a year now, and it is a good one. Congratulations on your acquisition!...jim

Zeek,
No it was a private sale referred via a dealer friend. It was owned by a very keen gun owner with many other very high priced guns in his collection. I was just fortunate enough to hear about it. It was still a lot more that I intended to pay but I think I will enjoy it long after I forget how much it cost!
The previous owner told me he knew of another one in .308 but it had a broken stock & was fixed (how'd they break a ULA stock?) and another one in 30-06 was in Queensland.
I presume you are in Australia? Best you put the feelers out. Never know what can turn up. According to some emails from Melvin in 2002 he sent 7 directly to Australia up to that time.

Zeek,
There is a big shotgun club at Menai - big field & game shoots. We have a few gunshops in Sydney, not as many as before the draconian gun laws. Horsley Park Gun Shop & Safari Firearms in Canterbury are probably the 2 biggest. Still nothing like in the USA where you can get a shopping trolley & really stock up. Most things behind the counter.
But with fewer shops the upside is that the few remaining seem to be thriving.

Wish I would have known about the shotgun club when I was there. Spent most of my time in the Royal National Park, bush walking.I did go to the Olympic trap shooting finals. I checked into hunting buff on the top end but it was a little more than I wanted to spend.Wish I'd done it now.Same for New Zealand. Great Country, weather and people! We're planning to visit again in a couple of years.

Congratulations on the purchase! You will love it! I have a M20 in 257BOB and couldn't ask for more out of it. In fact I am now searching for a M24 in 30-06 or 338-06 preferably the latter.
