I have a good buddy that has moved to FL. and has given up deer hunting. (never really got into it, like deercamp better than hunting)Back in 1978 he bought a new 336 in 35rem and put a new Redfield 4X wideview on top, he shot two really nice bucks with it, then just sort of quit.
He called me the other night and said he's going to give his rifle to my youngest son (who's 27 now), it's condition is as new and he still has a partial box of ammo he bought with the gun. It's going to be a surprise to my kid and I can't wait to see his expression.
I had one just like it but sold it many years ago for what I though were bigger and better rifles, today I regret selling it and am excited to have one back in the family.

I hope it's a big grin
One of the things I managed to learn from my Dad , was his regret for selling a few of his rifles when he was younger ( including a marlin in .35 that dropped an 8 point and 10 point in the same year. He replaced it with one from '51 ( the year he got those two )and it's stayin' in the familly from now on ;\)
Hope your son enjoys the rifle , and learns your lesson about selling them

Well here it is, I'd rate it as new, came with about a 1/2 of box of Remington 35 cal. shells (only box my friend ever bought) so gun was shot 9 times.
Scope is a Redfield Wideview 4X mounted on Kwik-site see thru mounts. He even gave my son the original sales slip, dated 10/23/78
New gun, new scope and mounts cost a total of $266.71
My son was just speechless, so was I.

great story, and a great rifle. Your Son will probably pass this down to his son.

Now this is a great thread!

You should put it up in the deer section as well.
