I'm building a rifle for the wife, its pieced together from a savage 110 long action and a take off 12 stainless fluted .223 barrel. she is adamant about having a thumbhole stock or pistol grip stock, its the most comfortable for her. the only ones I can seem to find are the boyds thumbhole, the choate varminter/sniper and the coyote from brownells. all seem to be decent, but is there anything out there closer to the $100 range?
I'm trying to do this as inexpensive as possible
does anyone have an extra laying around collecting dust?

The Choate Varminter isn't a good carry gun choice....

I agree, I have one on my 300 WM. mostly we'll be shooting from a bench, and prone while shooting prairie dogs. and I'll use it as an extra coyote gun in case my brother wants to go sometime.
I would like to find a factory wooden thumbhole stock for cheap and widen the barrel channel to fit. just wondering if anyone knows any inexpensive fixes for me.thanks
