McMillan Talon Rifle
Anyone own one of these? Anyone know anything about these rifles?
I understand it is a copy of the Pre-64 Model 70. But is it an exact copy or does it improve on the Pre-64 such in gas handling? If it is better, in what ways?
Thanks,
Richard

I have a early one in .280 rem and have used it heavily since 1991. Great gun, but it is not a copy of the pre 64. Its more like a Remington 700/ Winchester classic cross. It does have a Winchester pr 64 style extractor, safety, ejector and coned breech. It also has a Remington style round receiver, Remington style recoil lug, Remy bottom metal and Remy style trigger. The bolt release is on the side of the receiver like most Remy clone actions. The barrel on mine is Polygonal rifled and I believe it to be a schneider, but am not certain. The trigger is very crisp with a 2lb pull, it has always functioned perfectly and its hard to find a load that it wont shoot .
