Appears to me it came out very nice.
A couple of questions if you don't mind:
1. What were the pins use for? (three shown in the top photo) 2. How is the handle secured? You mention drilling the handle for the tang but is the tang meerly pushed in and glued in place?

My bad, the pins are getting used for another knife. To attach the handle I cut groves in the tang and used a rough cutter in a dremel to leave plenty of bite in the wood. Secured everything with a 90 minute, waterproof epoxy. Wood was finished with superglue and taken to a 1000grit polish.

Good Job. That progressive tempered blade should be a winner.

Nothing like the feeling of accomplishment after finishing a project.

In actual work I probably have 20-30 hours into it, hand shaping the handle from a block and filing the blade to fit the guard ate a bunch of time.
Using power tools I would figure about 1hour to polish out the blade and another hour to take the handle from a block to final form. After that speed will depend on the handle finish. A coat of superglue goes on in a few minutes, sets about an hour and then light sanding. I think this was three coats, one sanded to 400, one to 600 and the final coat at 1000grit. The blade ended up at 1000 for the bevel and 600 for the flats. I know its heresy but I put a micro bevel on with a fine ceramic rod and it is the sharpest knive I have ever handled. So far three people have handled it and all three walked away bleeding....

varmintsinc,
Where did you get the LPT blade for 20.00? I am interested in ordering one or two.

He is out right now but if there are supply issues I can throw a new, untouched one in priority mail for $25 (cost and shipping)

varmintsinc,
Hey thanks for the link and the offer. I am traveling for the next two weeks and will check for availability when I return. If NorthCoast is still out of stock, I will check back with you.
