Might have a lead on a bolt I need for my late model Mod70 Featherweight Classic. Will a 1950s era Mod70 LA std cartridge bolt work in my Classic CRF .270? I have access to one to try but it'll take a few days to get it.

Good question.. I've never tried it.. The pre-64 bolt won't have the anti-bind groove built into the head.. I'm wondering about the critical length between the handle and the lugs. Also, the striker's going to be different and may not match up with the sear..
Only way you'll know for sure is to try it..

No. The post 64 is slightly longer than the pre 64.

Jkob,I'll keep you in mind. The parts I put this Featherweight together with came from someone who has worked for Winchester for 40+ yrs and is suppose to have alot of parts stored at his house. I'm hoping for one of three things,he has the bolt for this Featherweight action,he has the action for this magnum bolt,or he can get me the bolt I need.
