We were passing through Arkansas yesterday and I took a side trip to Stuttgart, specifically to go to Mack's. What a cool place for waterfowlers. Brother, they got it all. It would have been easy to spend some hours there, and a whole bunch of money. Fortunately, I had the wife and kids with me, so I didn't make a day of it, and I didn't leave there too light. Lots of winter merchandise on sale. This place is smack in the middle of some great waterfowling country...flooded rice...much like where I've hunted so much west/southwest of Houston. If you're in the vicinity, it's worth a swing over to Stuttgart to check it out.

Do they have a lot large enough for Semi truck parking? I have driven past a hundred times over the years and never dared take the chance. Waddling around a small town with a big truck just isn't the polite thing to do.

They've got plenty of room...it's a good sized parking lot...park your tractor and trailer there and go on in. You'll be glad that you did. Incidentally, RNT is right next door to Mack's. Mack's is on the outskirts of town.

Make sure you visit the "Fine Guns Room" when you're in Macks!
It'll make your eyes water, and your mouth drool...

Made a detour there two years ago specifically to go to Mack's. But we arrived after they had closed for the day. So we found a motel with an indoor pool for the granddaughter, went to WalMart for swim suits and was at Mack's the next morning when they opened. Granddaughter loved it as much as I did, expecially the taxidermy and the duck statue on the parking lot. And she left with a new suit of camo and a cap.

There is also a very good museum in Stuttgart which focuses on the history of the region, particularly rice production and waterfowl hunting.

mack's also has plenty of rifles, and their gunsmith, a young man named matt spoon, builds some nice (and accurate) custom rifles. if you are ever in the area you should make it a point to drop by.

Macks is awesome! You should be there during waterfowl season. Reps for many of the call and choke tube companies are there to help you out. We stop there every season to get our licence. It really gets you fired up for the hunt the next day. Stuttgart is a waterfowl paradise.
Hey 413, where did you find a hotel out there that was nice enough to have a pool? The area is really rough aside from the hunting. Love to visit and hunt but could never live there!!!
