I picked up my new model 7 varmit in 243 this morning. It's got the Mossy Oak Brush camo pattern. Does anybody know if there's a scope avaliable with this color pattern?

I'm sure you realize your limiting your options by wanting a scope in a certain finish. I stuck with the better brand named scopes and came up with ONE! The Pentax Gameseeker 3-9x40. Beings your using a low recoiling cartridge in a moderately heavy rifle I don't believe you'd have any problems.

I think you can get pretty much any scope dipped in almost any camo pattern. Around these parts Gander m\Mountain does it. They send stuff like that out to there gunsmithing facility so it takes a while. I see that they will do scopes at "owners risk".

There website is:

I cant stand "camo dipped" anything ... to me, it just cheapens the look ...

if you NEED camo, use a rattle can ... it's likely cheaper than buying someone's name brand camo pattern, and it comes off with acetone ... looks a gazillion times better too ... (grin)

ps. when choosing glass, the 'finish' is the last part of the equation for me ...

Well WGM, to each his own. Opinions are like a certain part of ones anatomy, everyone has one and most of them stink.
If you want to spray your gun with Wal-Mart paint, go right ahead. This gun happens to be part of a collection I'm building.

jmj, I owned a camo scope before. (not the pattern you want though). One thing I did not like, the camo coating adds just enough thickness to the tube, that standard rings are really tight without lapping. I though the scope would fit, and when I tightened it down it wrinkled the finish. Something to think about.

Thanks Dogcatcher and EZearl...I can't decide. I've got a Nikon Monarch here and I might send it to Gander Mountain. 'Course I'd need to do the rings and bases too.
Maybe I'll just throw the Nikon on it and hunt. My mind tends to run away during the summer \:\) \:\)

You may want to check out http://www.duracoatinc.com of Columbus, Georgia. Their website seems to be a little flaky this morning. Anyway, they can apply a Mossy Oak Brush camo pattern to a scope--at your risk. I had two scopes coated, one a Nikon and the other a Leupold VX-ll. Both functioned perfectly afterwards, and I use them every deer season now. I did have one friend tell me that the adjustment covers on his scope were really tight after coating, but I never had that problem. I know it may all be cosmetic, but I gotta admit, it really looked good. Yeah, I know, that doesn't matter, either, but what the heck. To each his own, and I like mine camo-ed.

Thanks GA270....I'm only 60 miles from those boys. I might give them a try. Looks like they'll coat most anything. That gets a fellow thinking.......

I think that the "at your own risk" warning is because they use water to apply the pattern. So a scope thats not truely waterproof might not fair to well. I would hope that anyone of the decent brands should fair well. (and if my scope wasn't waterproof I would rather know now, not in November)
