Well, I'm happy to hear from you. Our trout fishing has all but shut down here and I'll have to fish vicariously through the pictures and stories of nice folks like yourself until next Spring. Thank you for remembering and putting up some pics. Now if only I could figure out what fly that is in that trout's jaw. I see a little wet wing, could that be a thorax fly? I had a day where the spinners were falling everywhere, and washing out the mouth of the Wood River into the slower water of Wyoming Pond. Big, 2+ pound browns and rainbows were picking them off. A perfect thorax fly would take fish until waterlogged or torn up. I was watching another canoe with two fishermen casting to rising fish and getting nowhere. I stuck a half dozen gray thorax flys into the wrapper of a Rice Krispy Treat and threw it at them with brief instructions. Both tied on, hooked up, and caught fish the rest of the time I was there. My friend who showed me the fly told me not to give them out, because he didn't want everyone taking all the fish out of the River but it was too late. I laughed when I caught a brown with one stuck in his lip he had broken off of somebody. If his fly is catching fish in Alaska too, I'd have to tell him the cat's definitely out of the bag.

rob You shoul dhave seen grayling working the big saltwater fly you tied as an extra in the swap. He hammered a BUNCH of lake trout on it until the tippet broke! He needs to post a picture for you. art

I tried the flys on my Wood River trout and caught fish on all the little ones. Anything fished wet caught a couple. The dry lemon dyed adams looking fly worked until pinched. The big ones with the pheasant tails (I think there were 3) wouldn't get a rise. I tried to feed them to the smallmouth in Stafford Pond (boulder field) and couldn't get one. I got two on black wooly buggers and about fifty bluegills. My pics have been terrible though. I'm using the macro because of the short distance to the netted fish, but some of the pic is always out of focus. I don't know how depth of field can be improved at arms length. They look kind of like this one.
