I have a .224 Bartlein barrel on the way that should be showing up any day. As such is the case, I have no choice but build a rifle around it. Both these cartridges intrigue me. How are the ballistics compared to the 223AI ? As decent feeding is a concern I am kinda leaning towards the PPC. The .20 version of either intrigues me as well. Experiences are appreciated. Thanks Frank V.A.

Oddly enough, I was pondering the same question this morning. Nosler's newest manual has a section for both the 22PPC and 22BR. Just reading through, most max charges for 50's with the 22BR were in the 30-34gr range. Looks like it falls right in there between the 223AI and standard 22-250. I think they were running 50's at 3700-ish from a 24" tube.

I have three, all Sakos. Two are custom jobs built on A1 actions. One is a heavy varmint barrel. The third is a heavy barrel stainless laminated Sako 75. I like all of them, and think they have some accuracy edge over the 223, but in the PD fields there is not much difference. I am getting 100-150 fps more than a 223. Brass is pretty spendy, but I found some fairly cheap and have a lifetime supply, none for sale.

What do you want to do with it?? Are you after accuracy or just sending lead down range? You're probably better off from a cost standpoint with BR brass, quality with the PPC, capacity is a toss up, and probably accuracy with the two. I shoot a short PPC, as I feel that's a more accurate combo. The 223AI is hard to beat. Feeding? I think you are ok unless you are shooting in competition.

Mostly to shoot vermin. Thinking I am just going to set it on the shelf for the time being as a backup. I really want to dabble with a .20. Thinking the 204 ruger is the path of the least resistence all things considered.

I have a similar setup, a Lilja I reamed with a Kiff fatneck 22BR on a 98. Feeding doesn't happen, but it's fine as a single shot. I like it because it's accurate, fairly docile and forgiving, not a blowtorch, yet shoots fast and flat. I've thought long and hard about a PPC, but before I do that, I'm going to try a 25x39 wildcatt for 75s. I think you will enjoy either just because it is "different" from the usual suspicions. And, you MIGHT have a screamer.
