I have been buying rolled D2 blanks (1/8" x 1 1/4") for $10 a foot from Texas Knife Making Supply. I would like to believe I could find it cheaper from a steel company but none have had rolled steel below 1/4 inch. Does anyone out there have any leads?

The "Supply Houses" buy in enough volume that it is hard to beat their prices for the small lots (less than full sheet).
At least that is what I have found.
You may be able to find some "drops" at one of the mills or at a slitter and get a deal, but that hit and miss.

Crucible might make D2.

I have purchased 154 CM and also M2 directly from Crucible. Go to the internet to find warehouse locations and shipping information.

Crucible buys D2 outside , but will source it for you.
S30V is pushing $20 a pound, 154CM and D-2 in the $14-$16 area when buying sheets. Be sure to check for "drops" if you are looking for smaller quantities.

Yes, as I noted above the "Supply Houses" are sometimes cheaper and with the prices going up monthly, they may have some cheaper stuff in stock.
Again, if you go to the larger suppliers where they actually do custom sizes, they may have some "drops" laying around ---if the salesperson will look into it;

I tried about all the steel supply places on Thomasnet, but didn't get a single source for rolled bar thinner than 1/4 inch. It's enough to drive you nuts.

I am thinking that as this stuff gets so expensive, they are carrying fewer options and less stock.
Good thing there are grinders.
