I bought a Nikon Monarch 4-12x40AO scope in 1999 and it failed me last fall - can happen with any brand, right? Of course it was perfect at the range and failed at the next shot which was at a heavy 5x5, about the way my hunting luck runs. POI jumped and I literally couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.
Verified the problem was the scope and mailed it to Nikon on 10 June. Yesterday, 1 July, UPS brought me a brand new replacement.
That kind of service is pretty darned hard to beat. I really like the scope too.

Word on the street is Nikon has vowed to step up to the plate on Customer Service. I for one have had issues with their CS in the past but, have not had to use them lately(past year). It sounds like there starting to step up to the plate on there CS Finally.

I hope they've gotten better. I have a set of the Action Binos in my truck and they fog internally in wet conditions. Emailed Nikon CS and never got a response....

Try here: Nikon service information. I followed the instructions on the NIKON ONLINE SERVICE FORM link. You fill in the boxes and it prints out the form Nikon wants to see, shipping label too.

Last Thursday I sent Nikon a 25 year old pair of compact binoculars that were out of colimation??? They made me cross-eyed when looking thru them and the left and right eye wouldn't both stay in focus when you turned the focus knob. There was some dust on the inside of the ocular lense, and they had fogged up once. I had registered them when purchased, but I did not still have the receipt and warranty card that they asked for in the shipping instructions. (I was using the same link provided above.) On Tuesday I had an email confirmation that they had received the binoculars, that they were no longer under warranty, and gave me an estimate for the repairs. The estimate was to algin the colimation, recalibrate the focus assembly, dismantle clean, adjust reassemble.... They asked for my approval to proceed before making any repairs that weren't covered under warranty just as I'd asked them to....total cost would be $10. Whoo hoo! I sent the approval. So far I'm impressed! Sled2live

Thanks. That's good to hear about Nikon's customer service.
They exceeded warranty for me a couple of months ago and replaced some defective binoculars.
Their warranty used to be poor (they had refused to fix these binos under warranty a few years ago). A Nikon rep told me that they were detemined to recover a good reputation, and he urged me to send in the binos with my story. I about fell over when they replaced them, and quickly.
They have the best optics for the money to my eyes, and if their warranty is now as good, that is an excellent combo for buyers.

I thought I'd give you folks an update. I received a package today from Nikon containing a replacement pair of Travelite V binoculars. They indicated that they exercised their option of replacing rather than repairing my original travelite binoculars. They indicated that my original bins were 28 years old and they no longer stocked all of the parts necessary for the repairs. I can't be more pleased and am very happy with their customer service. These new bins are BAK 4 multicoated ashperical lenses with quite an improved image compared to the original. With a new 25 yr warranty to boot!

Hope they keep their intentions going in the right directions. Nikon makes some very good products, if CS can keep up with the quality of the product we will all benefit.

Wrote here last year about the two 3x9x40 Nikon scopes I bought in the 1980's when there was only one model. Hadn't fired the rifles they were on in years and when I did the scope adjustments were completely haywire. Shot patterns not groups. Returned to Nikon and they sent me two of the new 2.5x42 Monarch's!!! Was really surprised. Expected to get maybe Buckmasters.

They say they respond within one business day to all service questions. 2 days and no response....
I'm not holding my breath.

Took me almost a 1 year to get me a replacement on my Nikon Tactical 4-16 Gen2. Ended up getting a newer Nikon MonarchX 4-16 w/mildot.
Too much headaches for myself.
Glad other people are enjoying them and getting good CS...

Over a week later, two emails, and still no response. Over a year since the last time I emailed them with some questions and still no response on that one as well.
I simply asked them a few questions and also wanted to know if they would warranty my binos since I do not have the sales receipt.....
Oh well
