I've found a nice shooting load for my Knight with the scope on. 80grns of FFF T7 under the 348 PBs
Time to get a set of sights and practice alittle for my '09 CO bull hunt.
Want something good for low light and would prefer a small dia FO front blade and a rather large peep to mount in the rear scope mount holes. Any suggestions?
Saw some TGs at BP, but the ghost ring peep seems like it may be too large? This is my first experience with peeps on a MLer as I've only shot peeps on air rifles. I've shot traditional open sights ever since a small boy, but want to try peeps out this go around.
Thanks,

Check out a Williams peep reloader. I have 3 of 'em and love 'em all. You can aquire your target super quick seems to me. Since you have a lot of open sight experience as I to have.....you would really like a Williams peep I'm betting. http://www.williamsgunsight.com Check out what they offer for MLs and good luck with your hunt. Ebay usually has several listed.....type in 'Williams sight' and see what you get! Enter this item number on Ebay and check it out. 120278578880

Reloader, I've 2 Lyman's and 1 Williams, older peeps, on my muzzle loaders. I've removed the fine target hole screw out of the Lymans so the peep hole is larger. Here in Oregon, iron sights (or plain non-light-gathering plastic)are required for tag draw muzzle loader hunts. Peep sights are definitely the way to go. As my eyes have gotten older, I now require a larger front sight. This makes sighting much easier especially at twilight and just before dawn (when the elks are out playing). So I disagree with your thoughts on a fine blade front sight. I prefer a rather large ivory dot on a thin blade post as it stands out against the hide of an animal better. My thoughts. Fishdoc/

Williams peep with a "twilight peep". You can order the peep from anywhere, but I had to order the "twilight peep" directly from Williams. Several years ago it was only about $10.
This peep has a much larger appeture than the standard, but much smaller than a ghost ring.
Currently I am shooting this on the rear and a "globe" fiberoptic on the front. With this set up, it is almost like shooting a scope as the appetures seem to match in size.

Good load there, Make sure you use the Aerotips as it helps control over expansion of the bullet.
Tru Glo Ghost ring is a really nice sight to look at. cabelas sells them.

I have a Williams peep on my Knight, with a green fiber optic front.Love it.I've tried the ghost ring concept a few times.I hate it.Its certainly fast and bright, but my accuracy is about double what I can do with a standard aperature.

Thanks fellas, I will check into the Williams line.
dvd, it's the cheap American Kinght. I picked one up about 8 years back from BP and have been quite impressed with it's accuracy. I installed the Disc Extreme kit on it a few years back. With 2 777 pellets and a 250 SST it gives 1-1.5" groups at 100 and being zeroed at 100 it only drops 12" at 200 with that load. With the 348 PBs it will tear a large ragged hole at 100 with 80 grains of FFF 777(W/ a scope). I tried picking up the charge and things opened a bit. I haven't chronoed the load yet, but feel it should be adequate out to 125-150 max based on my responses from Knight and several other elk hunters on forums.
Have a Good One,

Re7RM,
I have used various aperture sights over the years, and Jim Brockman's Gen III sights are the best.
I also have one front sight blade with the tritium insert, but I have not had a chance to shoot an animal with it.
Small apertures work fine for target work, but the ghost ring comes into its own when you are hunting -- especially at the edges of the day. To try both use a sight with an insert that screws in that you can remove to go hunting.
