I have one on a Sako. Nice scope, optically and mechanically as you would expect. Just 2 inches too long. Might be perfect on a magnum action.

Does it really weigh much more than a 3-9 x 40 as the specs suggest or is that a misprint?

My understanding is it weighs that much,18oz. For me it was the deciding factor in not getting it as I didn't want to mess with the good balance of a fairly lt wt rifle. Bet it's a NICE piece of optics though!

Earl,

+1. There was a post some months ago regarding this scope and the poster said he had it on a shotgun. He said it did indeed weigh 18 oz., which was the deal killer for me as well. Can't imagine lugging that much glass.

Best Regards

I have one with the #4 reticle. Going on my Tang safety M77 358win. It is a very very nice scope...Would be a dandy choice for a rifle in the same calibler mentioned above that I know of thats 29 years newer....

THANKS for the info Tom! That's less than 2oz more than my Vari-Xlll 3.5-10x40AO. Been telling rahtreelimbs that depending on how this 9.3x62mm rifle feels when I get it together I may get rid of some scopes to fund one of those. I want to try a Zeiss.

Hey BD! Well,I haven't even gotten the barreled action back yet but don't believe it'll be much longer. Everything else is good to go. Thinking about offing a couple of my old referbed Weavers since Frank closed up and maybe a few others I don't use. That specific model Zeiss has been sticking in my craw since I first heard about it last fall.

Earl my friend, don't be too surprised if the one you find weighs 18oz.

Shame I unloaded mine before you got a shot at it. I give stuff away...:)

Seems that there're getting lighter! AW RIGHT! Seriously though I don't care if it would go 18oz. I bought a VXlll 1.75-6x32 this past summer for a lt wt .300. This Mauser even with a 20" bbl is going to be heavier and as I'm not trying to keep the weight down a few extra oz in a scope won't concern me.
