On another thread in this forum I explained how I just acquired a ULA made in 1995 in 30-06 in pristine condition. I just fired it with the old owner's handloads - 150gr Nosler BT's & while very accurate they were only doing 2374fps. Recoil felt good at these velocities!

Would you please share some of your 30-06 load data in particular for the 168gr TSX but any loads for bullets in the range of 150-180gr would be appreciated.

Now I did load 56.5gr & 58.0gr of H4350 with the 168gr TSX resulting in 4 x 3 shot groups of 1.319" & 1.141" and 2.226" & 1.347" for the higher charge. Velocities were 2779fps & 2852fps respectively. Recoil was more than BRISK!!!

No getting round the laws of physics. It only weighs 5 1/2 pounds with Leupold 3-9 x 40 scope. My ULA has a 22 inch No. 1 profile barrel. I am sure it can shoot much better and I do need to learn how to hold it on the bench because it does have quite some lift on the forend when you fire.

Thanks,
JohnT

The Hornady 155 A-Max with 49.0 grains of Vihtavouri N140 and a Federal 215MM primer is super accurate ( sub 1/2 inch) out of the .30/06. Velocity is in the 2,800 fps range. The 155 A-Max kills deer very nicely.
