I have a Win Fwt Xtr in 7x57. Everything is spotless except a few little scratches on the stock and a tiny ding.

I did a search on google and didn't come up with much on this rifle.

When did Winchester offer this cal and when did they stop offering it?

How much would this rifle be worth?

Mike

I believe the Featheweight in 7x57 was introduced in 1981 along with the .257 Roberts, .30/06, 270, 308 and .243. They didn't keep the .257 or the 7x57 in the line up for long.I'm sorry I have no idea what going price for a used one is.

In the condition you describe, figure about $700-750; maybe more depending on the time of year..

I saw two 7x57's on Gunsamerica this morning that were in that $750-$950 range.

I have seen the 7x57 FWT's go for $1,000 at gunshows and gbroker in the last year. The 7x57, .257 rob and 6.5x55 are sought after late summer/early fall. The 7x57 gets strong pulls to Africa for general game caliber and light weight configuration.

The FWT's have a wide range of fit and finish, some better wood and different sight configurations.

Price all depends on the time and place combined with the buyer who has to have it. There was an article about 7x57 FWT's as an all around cartridge a couple years ago, after that the 7x57's price went up on the auction sites (Win FWT's and CZ 550 that were imported in low numbers).

I like mine!

I got mine about 10 years ago as a donor because the barrel was badly corroded due to careless use of corrosive primer ammo.
I paid $350 and then resold the stock in pretty much NIB shape for $125.

It is still a 7x57 but now is glass bedded into a Mickey stock in tan and black spider webbing and it has a Krieger barrel twisted and chamberd for 140 grain modern bullets. It is one my 2 remaining bolt guns. A fine rifle for a post 64.

Although not a 7x57, but in the same neck of the woods, I recently bought a 70 FWT in 6.5x55 about 95% - 98% for 590.

My reference book says the 7x57 Fwt. was made only in 1981.

I sold one on gunbroker about two and half months ago that had a couple of minor dings(I've seen worse on brand new rifles on the shelf) for $710 otherwise it looked LNIB. This was a Winchester repeating arms rifle not a U.S. Repeating Arms.

XTR's do not bring alot in my area,I seriously doubt you could get over $500 here even if it was like new. Most guys around here are like "oh it's a pushfeed I don't want it" I bought a model 70 featherweight pushfeed 308 with the lamnate stock that is fairly rare for $335 at a local shop. There are featherweight pushfeeds sitting at local shops for sale right now and nobody is buying them.

The Win. Fwt. XTR 7x57 was only made for one year in a push feed. As other loonies have written here, there is really nothing wrong with a "pf". A pre'64 7x57 was a "crf" but is a valuable commodity bringing many thousands of dollars.

seems a shame... they were some well made and great shooting rifles...

i used several of them in various chamberings over the years... liked them all, but i was stuck in model 700/77 mode... couldn't see my way to owning a winchester bolt gun...
these days i still have my old 700 .17, and my old 77 .308... both with a lot of history... when i pick up a bolt rifle to go hunting though, it's a model 70 fwt... either .243, or 30-06...

FWIW, I too bought a 6.5x55 M70 FW - but it's the CRF "Classic", and was in 100% condition (no box though) with a mounted 2-7x33 Leupold in like condition.
Two years ago, and I paid $525 OTD, at a local popular gunshop.

When I bought it, I spotted two examples online exactly like mine that actually sold for $950 & $1150 - same condition/scope, etc.

I would think your PF 7x57 M70FW would bring, today, about $1K in an online auction, like gunbroker.com or auctionarms.com.

Especially, since Winchester is dragging their feet, with the "Spring 2008" re-introduction of the Model 70.

Does your rifle have iron sights on it,a very few of the 7x57s were made with irons and naturally are worth more as being very rare,on top of the fact that the 7x57 was one of three chamberings that winchester made a very few of,Id guess if the rifle was in like new condition it should bring $750.00 on up
