Looks like I'm gonna have to buy a new trimmer soon. My old Lyman has just about had it. Which trimmer do ya'll suggest? Are the dial caliper, if that's what you call it, type trimmers accurate? I think Redding makes one like that.

Any and all advice appreciated.

Thanks,

David

This is a 1st, I`ve never heard of a trimmer wearing out.

If the cutter is getting dull you can replace them I believe, I know RCBS cutters can be and suspect most other brands can also. If you are set on a new tool, Forster gets good reviews from what I`ve seen. I like my RCBS, lots of rich folk use a Gracy, and Lee`s little hand trimmers work well with a Dremal or cordless screwdriver.

Noticed this past weekend, it seems the bushing that the trimmer shaft turns in is about worn out. May be replacable. Was just thinking about upgrading instead of working on it. Had it for about 20 years now.

Any suggestions?

I have a Forster case trimmer (for perhaps 25 years). Very happy with it!

I ordered a bunch of accessories (pilots, outside neck turner) direct from the company about 7 years ago, and the person who answered the phone sure knew their stuff. Didn't rip me off for shipping either.

If mine was stolen, I'd buy a Forster again!

I've tried several hand-lathe type trimmers ovet the years and nothing has been as easy to use and versatile as my Lyman Universal trimmer and the assorted attachments Lyman markets.

May just have to go back with the Lyman, seeing how I already have a bunch of pilots and a couple extra cutting heads. Guess that would make sense wouldn't it. I guess a new one every 15 or 20 years ain't bad, huh?
