I have heard and read about Cooper rifles, and would like some first hand knowledge from the "fire".

I am planning on ordering a Model 21 Classic in 223.

Thanks in advance

I've got one, left handed. If I had to have only one varmint rifle, this would be it. And I've got 5 other Coopers in varmint cartridges (17HMR,17HM2,17FB, 204R,221FB).

The Coopers are beautiful to look at, and shoot even better. Hard to believe that you would ever be anything other than delighted with it.

I have a M 21 in 223. Looks fantastic and shoots the same. It wears a 4.5x14 conquest.

I have a 21 in .223, also. I bought mine used and it's the best consistent shooter I have ever had. I put a Leupold 6.5x20 LR on mine.

The only drawback to this rifle is the twist. Cooper puts a 1:14 on the 223's as the standard barrel. You can get a different twist but the up charge is quite high. I don't remember the exact charge for a different twist, but it's nearly twice what Cooper charges to re-barrel, which is around $400.00.

A 1:14 will shoot up to 55 grain bullets well, I'm told, thoughI have not shot 55's but can attest mine will shoot 50's on down fabulously.

Recently I tried some 60 grain Partions in mine, and while it would be alright for hunting deer, grouping at 1.25-1.5 inches, my ususal groups are in the .1-.2's with ligher bullets.
