I looked at the new Marlin rifle yesterday. It is a "Kickbutt" rifle for $300.00.
I think that they will sell a ton of these. It had a good trigger a decent action recessed muzzle crown and the injected stock didn't even suck.
It was an 30/06 and if I would have had enough money it would have walked with me.
I looked at the new x-bolt Browning and a 257 Weatherby Remington SPS 700 and the Marlin was actually a better gun all around. Now, if they could put a 3 stage winchester safety on the pup I would sell something to buy it.
I was very impressed.
Sincerely,
Thomas

Since Remington owns Marlin is the XL7 going to kill the Remington 715 or the other way around. I think the XL7 is a far better rifle than the 715 but that's no guarantee. The XL7 is so much like a Savage 110 that it's a wonder that Savage doesn't make them for Marlin. Floating bolthead, barrel nut, silly lawyer lever in the trigger, tubular action, trapped recoil lug, etc.
