I have a couple bags of shot I have got in some trades and purchases from people selling out and so forth! When I want to buy shot is it better to buy from a local store or web purchase? Is there any special handling charges like powder or just the weight? Any thoughts?

There are no haz-mat fees like powder or primers, just the weight charges.

Thanks, I figured the feds had a EPA fee on it. There seems to be a fee for everything else, Otis!

It may depend on where you live and whether you belong to a club that buys in bulk-- that's probably the cheapest way. The least expensive source I know of is West Coast Magnum at http://westcoastmagnumshot.com/order.htm. You can order two 25 lb bags of 7.5, 8, or 9 shot from them for $80, shipping included. You must buy 2 at a time.
Good luck!

Buy local! $80 for 50 lbs then the $30 shipping on it makes it $110 for 50 pounds. Shot here is around $35 a bag in store.

Really? I don't know of anyplace around me that sells shot for that price. If you know of a place in the northern SF Bay Area, or in the Sacramento area, that sells shot for that price, I'd be interested. Let me know.
West Coast Magnum ships free when you buy 2 bags, so it's just $80/50 lbs. Not so bad, considering what I've found locally.
Thanks.

$80 / 50? Holy cow. If you are near eastern NY, I'll sell you what you need at $1 per pound.

Thanks for the offer.
The cost of the plane ticket from California to New York would seem to cancel out any possible savings though...

I quit reloading target and bird shells as it cost more to load them now than to just buy them.
I can buy a case for $55, but it would cost me $75 to load a case due to the ridiculous cost of shot now.
The only shot shells I load now are turkey loads and squirrel/rabbit loads.

shot prices are out the roof now and have been, but they are coming down slowly. I only reload 28 ga shells, as you can buy 12's and 20's cheaper than you can reload them

Hey Guys, can anyone steer me the right direction for reloading 16 ga. shell with the Gualandi wads? What hull goes with what hull and that kind of thing. I have the shotshell reloading manual, but it doesn't show these wads!, Thanks Otis!

Otis-
I'm not sure what "shotshell reloading manual" you have. You might try the "16-gauge manual" from ballisticproducts.com. Because BPI sells Gualandi wads, they may have some loads for it in their booklet.
Alternatively, you might take your question to the reloading forum on 16ga.com.
