What size trolling motor battery will last all day pushing a canoe and one person around (upstream calm river) with a 28 or 35 pound thrust trolling motor with a little left at the end of a long day . . . JUST in case?
This is off and on running (fishing in between) during the day

Get a Group 27 Exide deep cycle. Had them in my travel trailer for 7 years now and their going strong still.
Trojan would also be a very good choice.

Go to a NAPA store...take all your motor info; they will take care of you.
NAPA set me up with a Premium DP Marine/RV battery, model 270CM. Works great!
Good Luck, GPA

I'm on my third trolling battery for my pond prowler which is going to have pretty similar run times to a canoe. There are a bunch of different batteries that will do what you are asking. The most important thing is to keep the battery charged when sitting for ANY period of time. I went through my first two batteries, each lasting a couple years each. *If* I made sure to charge them before storing them and maintain the charge a couple times during the winter or use a solar charger to constantly trickle/maintain I bet I could have doubled their life. Toward the end of their life I was getting 1/3rd of the run time I would get on a fresh battery. Rowing a quarter mile on a windy lake is not only miserable, but also very scary.

I have 3 group 27 Interstate batteries for my boat. They have held up real well so far. I fish a river with windy conditions most times and have not run out of battery yet.
They work good.

I have had the same experience as GPA with NAPA. Their batteries work great.
