'09 Dodge Ram- facelift for 1500 only?

Been reading all the hype on the '09 Dodge Ram- it's about time to retire the old one.
All I see is the new facelift, etc. for the 1500 series. I need a 2500, for towing and carrying around my camper. I really like the idea of the extra storage over the rear wheel wells, etc. that the 09's are supposed to have.
Is the facelift for the 2500 planned for next year? If so, guess I'll put on some new tires, drive the old one for another year...

My dealer showed me the new 1500 pamplet while I was waiting to get my used 07 2500. The new 1500 looks like a Dodge/Ford hybrid. The truck looked O.K. to me, but I did like the optional toolbox inside of the wated space on the rear fender. I didn't see anything about the 2500/3500 but I would guess these models will also change.

In 2002 Dodge changed to the current body style in the 1500 seris, changed the 2500-3500 a year later. I've heard the same thing is happening in '09 and '10, guess '09 will be the last chance for a Megacab/Cummins.

The all new Dodge ram 1500 is a total redesign- not just a face lift. It is a compete truck from the ground up. The redesign for the heavy duties is going to be released next year as a 2010 model year. The megacab will stay in the heavy duty but has been dropped for the 1500 model. The new 1500 will have a true crewcab model instead of the megacab. The cummins will stay in the Dodge and will still be available in the megacab- just don't be surprised if it is no longer a inline six

I can't remember which years, but way back when Ford had a built-in tool box. It was down low in front of a rear wheel. It turned out to be a rust trap, probably because of it's location and poor materials. I hope Dodge's version works better than that one did.

it could grow on me. seem like a lot of suspension parts for something to go wrong with.
don't care for the storage in the side of the box, a lot of areas there for dirt, leaves and moistrue to collect and cause rust.
I like the interior on the SLT model but the larmie not so much.
awsome power/torque, could be fun.
what's with all the manufacturers droping the manual trans?

It is basically the same suspension that is in the front end of the heavy duties now- not sure what could go wrong- all you have are links and a coil with shocks.

they have drain holes in the bottom and are sealed to prevent water getting in them.

Got to go With what sells. I forget the number but it was below 10% of the 1/2 ton market sold with a manual trans in them. You can still get the manual in the 3/4 ton.

drain holes or not, jsut don't care for the stroage boxes. Do they come without the storage, and can you use them if there is a topper on it?
I looked through kind of fast, if the suspen. works...great. With the luck I've had with vehicles lately I'm damn near willing to try anything.

The storage box or RamBox as it is called is an option- so the answer is yes you can get it without. I don't think you can aceess them with a topper on the vehicle.

makes sense. didn't they do this with trucks in the 70's? I know some of the old Fords had it, but access was on the outside of the box, not on the top rail.

Just got our first '09 Dodge in. Took her for a drive and was very impressed. The ride is smooth and quiet while the improved Hemi is very responsive. Like I said before, I think Dodge hit it on the mark with this truck and watch out chevy, Ford and Toyota.

I saw an 09 Dodge 1500 mega cab at the dealer today. The truck was loaded and it was NICE! I'm not a Dodge lover, but man this thing looked good. The interior is on par with Ford. The window sticker said 14mpg to 18mpg. Not bad for 390hp.

Got in the new CrewCab with the Hemi in Yellow and sport package. The thing lasted a whopping 2 hours on our lot and there were people still trying to buy it while the owner was swapping their stuff over. Great looking truck in the yellow, dual exhaust, leather, sunroof , and just awesome.

With all the new Electronics on that truck I smell many a warranty repair visits! Dodge has never been known for doing the electronics thing well....at all! I dont even think the new look is better than the old one, it looks more like a grandpa truck not a bad azz truck. I think they really screwed the pooch on that truck with or without a wee bit more power and "promised" mediocre fuel mileage, the thing just doesn't look tough in any way. Just my $.02, me thinks all of the compettition make a better looking truck than this newest Dodge.
