Any opinions or comments on the Benelli Nova pump shotgun would be greatly appreciated. I have a chance to purchase a new closeout Benelli Nova pump or a used, in great shape Franchi Semi for $200 more than the Nova. Both are in camo and in 26 inch barrels. I have both on hold and have to decide on Sat.
Again, any help would be appreciated. Shotgun would be used for both waterfowl and turkey hunting............thanks.

A couple points on the Nova I'll post here - not a gun writer. I bought a Nova for waterfowl about a year after they were introduced. Crawling around in the dirt field hunting tended to gum up other shotguns I had but the Nova just keeps on working. We have a couple kids that use Novas for 4-H trap and no "pump handle hands." (re: post in gunwriters forum) Not the best choice for trap but they do ok. Benelli made, and I suppose they still do, a recoil absorber that fits into the butt and it works. 3-1/2 inch shells feel about like a heavy 2-3/4 load to me. Changes the balance a bit but it's not a lithe, fast swinging upland gun to start with. Also they make an easy to install magazine extension useful for the special spring light goose season, if that's a concern. Don't know anything about the Franchi so I can't recommend one over the other though.

Nova is a good gun, but if the Franchi is an AL48, buy it.

I bought a Nova last year and use it for turkey hunting. I thought is was a tank to carry and it was noisy. way to noisy to use for turkeys. I sold it, as my 870's are much quieter, cheaper, lighter, and built better in my mind.
I do have a Benelli M-1 and love it though.
The Frachi sounds like a better buy to me.
