Guys, I am about sure that several years back I saw some Guides in 35 Rem. They were cute as heck and I sure wish I'd of picked one up.
Does anyone else recall anything like this? If so anyone seen one 4 sale lately?
Thx
Dober

Don't hold me to this, but I think Marlin did a special run of those for davidson's[sp]. Haven't seen one for sale in a while. You might try contacting them, or looking them up on the net.

Speaking of cute, little, fast handling 35's I was looking at some older Remington pump chambered in 35 rem. I forget the model but it had a 35 R case head recessed in the receiver. Pretty cool gun and felt like a killing machine in my hands.

The gun is a Marlin 336D, and it was a special run for davidson's. Look thru the internet gun sites and see if you can find one.

The above mentioned 336D model is blued, 18" and ported.
The other one that comes to mind, and the one I suspect Mark is referring to is the 336SSLTD. That one is a .35 Rem in SS with 18" barrel and straight (non pistol grip) stock. Truly a sweet rifle, assuming you like levers. Can't recall how many they made, maybe 250 or 500. Mine is not for sale.

Mark,
I had two of them, both with 18 inch barrels, one was blue and ported,it was a little on the loud side. The other is stainless and not ported.
I sold the blue one after I found the stainless,it's the one to get IMHO,I'll look for you one if you like, they only made a few hundred in each configuration.

The stainless 18.5" barrel model is the 336SSLTD and I believe the run was 500 rifles. I have one and love it. Not a micro groove barrel if that makes any difference to you.

The Remington pump you saw was the Model 14 (later the Model 141). They have a magazine tube that is "twisted"....supposedly to allow the use of spitzer, pointed style bullets.
They were chambered for the line of Remington rounds......25 Rem, .30 Rem, .32 Rem, and .35 Rem. All except the .35 Rem. are hard to find now, but the Model 14 (in .35 rem) is one of my favorite rifles for hogs and deer in the thickets.....very fast!!

Thx guyz, I'll do a bit of looking. The blued one is the way I'd go, not much for stls for the most part. And now that you mention it I can't recall if it had a pistol grip or not, I thought not but maybe it did?

Karl, many thx for taking the time to pm me. That critter is just about model perfect cept I really want the blued one...sorry.
I'd like the azul one and then put an XS on top with a fiber optic front.
I'm about to begin a serious 25 year journey on Minne whitetails one on one on the ground with them and this lil rig just hits me as it!

I have one of the stainless ones. They were made in 2005. I found 3 of them in a gunshop in January of 2006 and paid $550 for mine. A neat little gun I should really hunt with more often.

I found a 336 in .35 remington yesterday at the local pawn shop. Really didn't get a lot of details on it. I was planing on going back today and looking it over really good and probly purchasing it. It's the older model withouth the cross lever safety. Alot of blueing gone and stock is faded, but there is not rust or pitting at all and seemed to shift rather easily. They wanted $180 for it. IS that a bad price. I really don't know much about lever actions value. Any help you could give me on this rifle as in what to look for and price wise, I would greatly appricate. Thanks
P.S. Called pawn shop and he said he thought it was a 20" barrel.

If you're happy, I'm happy. I'd pay $180 assuming all was fine, sans bluing loss.
Just picked up mine from the 'smith (had the throat extended to handle the 210gr cast bullets)

Dober - The were a limited run gun made for Davidson's I believe. They have the barrel porting like the original 45-70's (Got one of those too) I bought one then and it is unfired, mint.
