Hi,

I'm looking for help on selecting a good scope mount that will fit my RWS Magnum 350. Though I'm an experienced shooter in many fields, I'm ignorant about air rifles. I recently bought one to control varmints in a suburban area. I bought the RWS that came with a scope and mounts. The RWS mounts were a bit tricky and require that windage screws be tight to tighten the mount on the rifle. Before the mount was tight, the screws stripped. I took a quick look on the Midway USA site to see what was available. I found the same mount I have on closeout sale. There were two customer reviews, and one said, "Good idea, but poor execution. It's a real pain to set up, especially windage adjustments. Base would not lock down completely, trying to do so I found that mounting screw heads are soft and strip with minimal torque. Fussed with this for an hour and then pitched in the trash." I could have written that myself!

I would appreciate advice from any of you airgun enthusiasts about what I should buy. I don't even know if air rifle mounts are brand specific or "universal."

I sighted the rifle in with the open sights and get somewhat reasonable groups at 50 feet. But man, that sharp point on the front sight is a real challenge for blended bifocals!

Thanks for any help,

Al

Another vote for the BKL 1 piece drooper mount. I have this mount on my RWS 34 P and have not had any issues at all.

Swift and centershot,

Many thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into locating these.

Best,

Al

WoodsyAl - X2 2 on all your experiences and observations. I bought a Diana 34 combo package that came with the 350 scope and mounts. I ended up using a gallon of loctite and vice grips to get things tight enough to hold together for more than 40 or 50 shots! The recoil that the scope and mounts have to take on a magnum springer are unbelievable for a first time user.

I am in the process of changing over to a Hawke mount which has four cross screws to attach to the rail. Unfortunately, I ordered one that is too long to fit the compact 350 scope which is something you will need to watch if you plan to keep the scope. The scope seems to be holding together fine and is very satisfactory for plinking/hunting as I also can no longer use open sights.

Acquiring a quality airgun has done wonders for my off hand rifle shooting. I can practice ever day in my basement range and crank off 40 -50 shots which is not as convenient or cheap to do with a powder gun.
