Being a sailor I was interested in the series and once started read them all. Was really disappointed wnem the author died as I was anxiously awaiting another volume. I've also kept the books and am planning on rereading them when I retire in a few years.
Of particular note is the detail in daily life, dress, activities, foods, etc that is included. The series is much more than an action/adventure.
