Hey Nate, welcome to the fire. The last Scuba diving I did was over fourty years ago for the USN. Got to do a lot of it around the Carribean. The absolute best for clarity and variety of marine life, was Cuba and Gitmo. Of course it`s out of reach for civilians. Recently, I`ve spent some time at my daughters place, on a little island in the Bahamas called Spanish Wells. The snorkleing and spear fishing were great. We stayed in water up to 40', and ate fresh fish every day. There`s a reef on the NE side. If you stay inside of it, you eat the fish. Outside, they eat you.
Enjoy,

I don't dive myself, but I know some folks like to dive the wrecks in the great lakes. Some lake associations sponsor diving clubs for lake cleanup days.

I dabbled with it 15 years ago or so and every once in a while I think to myself to get back into it. I will one of these days.
