Finally got the Oliver Winchester Commemorative 1894 38-55 out of layaway and thought I'd post a few pictures.

I could live without the bling, but I can like a 38-55.

yeah, I figured I'd be the pimpest guy in the woods, but for $600 OTD I couldn't pass the caliber up:)

I'd happily slam a deer with it!

Personally, I think it looks pretty cool. Ten years ago I wouldn't have looked at it twice.

...I sure have warm affection for my 94AE WranglerII in 38/55. It's in blue with roll engraved cowboy scenes on both sides of the receiver. No safety beyond the half cock hammer, a short 16" barrel, beautifully executed checkering, and a fancy piece of American walnut. I've killed a couple deer with it on the two occasions it has been afield. One deer was taken with the weak Winchester load, and the other with Canadian Imperial ammo with a bit more punch than the Winchester stuff. Buffalo Bore loads up some Barnes original 255 grain bullets to around 1850fps. , NOW that does the old 38/55 justice (just keep it out of the ancient guns out there in the old 38/55 chambering.
