Just curious as to what everyones average 3 day packs weigh? I got mine packed and weight on two different scales. Both said 27 lbs. This is the first time I have actualy weight my pack. I am a little surprised because I can't say that I have tried real hard to acheive this. Infact I could easily reduce this weight by 5 pounds but there are some creature comforts that I do like.

This is everything but water.

About 30lbs for me, as the only real difference in 5-7 day jaunts is food, my basic gear is the same.

Holy cow! Everything? Weapon, ammo, optics, food, etc. too?

Mind posting a list? I'd love to see what it is you guys are not carrying that I am and what you are calling "creature comforts."

Thats backpacking weight not hunting weight. It includes food and fuel but not water.

My clothing changes a little for hunting and depending how I do it there is another couple of pounds for the pack because the granite gear VT is a nice pack (with 14 pounds in it) but would suck with 70lbs, carting a deer out. Of course it doesn't contain my rifle, ammo, hunting knife or binos

If folks want to lighten up their pack I would start by weighing everything down to the gram. Make an excel spreadsheet that has all the stuff you carry and all the options so you can make informed choices.

Start by lightening the big 3 or 4 pack, shelter, bag and pad. Then start with the small stuff

If anyone wants a copy of my excel sheet I will be glad to send it. just PM me your email address.

I have mine at 32# right now with 3 days food and 1 day water. This isn't hunting gear either. I'm happy with that.

41 pds gun, ammo, optics, the whole shitt bang. The only thing that changes for a 10 day hunt is an addional 14pds of food.

This includes a 5 pd tent and a 5pd 8oz tripod. Lighten up on the shelter next year.

Right now I am at 47.9 lbs - 28.7 lbs of which is in my backpack. This includes gear, shelter, clothes, weapon, ammo, optics, and 1.66 lbs of food per day (for three days). It does not include the weight of my water.

I could easily drop 2+ lbs if I can convince myself not to carry my .22 revolver.

I plan on shaving of some more weight through some upgrades (lighter stove, lighter tent, smaller rangefinder, etc.)This will help some but, I'm pretty sure any major advances are going to require me to leave stuff at home.

I would love to see your list, I'm at 42# w/ rifle and ammo. and I don't use a tent, just a 1# bivy.

I've back packed with a total weight of 16-18 lbs. I've day hunted with up to 30 lbs.
Alot depends of the weather and what I insist on taking.
In weather down to freezing, or a bit more, I can get by w/o a bag, for instance. But, when it's really cold and I want to take lots of optics choices, etc, plus a pack that can pack heavy loads, the weight I'm carrying goes up a good bit. E
