I have 2 dwarf apple trees. One in a Macintosh and the other is an Empire. They are about 10 years old now and I've never got an apple off either tree. Every year I get a few blossums and a few small apples. The birds knock them off and eat them I guess but I've never seen more than 2 or 3 on either tree. I have 2 peach tree same age and get a good crop every other year. Can anyone shed some light on the "no apples" issue?

It sounds as if you don't have the appropriate pollinator for your apple varieties. We had the same problem with our pear trees this year.
Empire is a cross between a Macintosh and a Red Delicious so it most like won't pollinate the Macintosh properly.
Gurney's catalog lists the following pollinators for a Macintosh. If you plant one of those within 100 feet of your trees you should produce apples. Just make sure they are of the same blooming stage-such as early producers or mid season producers, etc.
Pollinator: Jonathan, Grimes, Gala,GoldRush, Liberty, Pixie Crunch, Sundance
Some people also have luck with using a crab apple as a pollinator for their apple trees.
