I have a marlin 36-A 30-30 ser# c127xx. Rusted, missing butt plate, broken stock, and a couple missing screws. Is it worth makeing functional or just a wall hanger? Allan

It could be, especially if you can do your own work.
Those square bolt rifles can make into pretty nice-looking pieces, with a pistol grip buttstock & ogee shaped grip bottom.
How badly rusted is it ? Pics ?

Wood and parts are available and if the bore is in good shape, I'd personally restore it. Yep.

If the bore is good then I'd look at a refurbish - that appears to be surface rust only - no deep pitting. You could sand that all off and have it hot blued. The wood might or might not need to be replaced - but could definatley use refinishing. Replacement parts can be had here: http://www.e-gunparts.com

Broken fireing pin. There is pitting on the barrel. Stock is broken at the wrist.

The firing pin - no problem. Stock, no problem (replacement sets are available). Pitting on or in the barrel and if "on" then how deep? If not too deep, it won't be problem.
Even the bore can be fixed - you can have it rebored to 38-55 or bored and sleeved for the original loading.
Just depends on how much work and $$ you want to put into it...

Bore is pitted, no big holes, think I'll put it back together and try to sell "as new" lol. She is a wall hanger. Thank-you for the input; Allan

yeah - no really worth the expense to get it up to speed - you can buy one on gunbroker for less than it would take probably. Too bad. You tried though!
