Figure I'd tap into the knowledge down this way.
I'll be needing some new tires soon. I need some sort of all-terrain tread that can and will be used on surface streets. I'd like some tough tires than can be driven over some amount of debris without having a leak everytime.
I'd also not like to break the bank...
I'm tire ignorant so if anyone has any suggestions I'd surely appreciate it.

I'm a big fan of BFG all-terrains. Cost may be prohibitive though, depending on the size.

BFG AT will last the longest...ride quiet....give good highway or off road traction wet or dry....three ply sidewalls..very strong tire....rotate them & keep them aired up & they'll go 60K miles just like the set on my 2500HD crew 4x4 did...

Just put a set of Bridgestone Revo's on my Tundra and love them. Semi-aggressive treat pattern and very quiet on the road.

i have had really good luck with Hercules Terra Trac A/T tires. Great gripping for off road and quiet on the streets and a good price.

My first pick would be BF Goodrich All Terrains, they speak for themselves, but they aren't cheap.
Second choice would be Bridgstone Duller- Revo's. Pretty agressive tread for all terrains, quiet on the pavement, and last pretty well. At least they did on my F150.

Driving an '03 F150 Extended Cab...
The 5.4 V8 I believe...
I've got some Michelins on now, not exctly sure what they are. I've put almost 100,000 miles on them. They were put brand new on the truck when I bought it 3 years ago and are a little bigger than the standard factory Ford tires.
They have been great tires and still have substantial tread on them but I will need some new ones in a bit...

typically the michelians I've had got good tread life, but were hard rubber, real hard, noisy, and lousy traction in the snow.
they seem to put them on the newere 3/4 ton trucks. strong tire, just not the best all terrain traction.

Hankook Dynapro MTs or Mastercraft Courser CTs
I currently have the Hankooks on my 4Runner. They are super tough. My Dad runs Hankook tires on all of the ranch trailers.

I just bought a set of 17 inch wheels for my Ram, it currently has 20 inch wheels on it. I'm going to go with Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor tires. A bunch of guys I work with use them and have had really good luck with them.

I've had good luck with Michelins on several trucks and Suburbans. Quiet, good tread life and good snow performance. While I've not been stuck, just looking at the tread, heavy mud concerns me as they are not too aggressive. Which is why they are quiet.

Bridgestone Revo's. On my 2nd set. The O.E Michelins had at least 50% life when I replaced them @ 50k miles, but had lost all wet traction & were never any good in muddy conditions. The Revo's won't last like the Michelins, but work very well in poor conditions for an all-terrain tire. Good, quiet ride on asphalt too. (I have a spare set of rims with Buckshot Mudders for slimy roads). I have 47k on the current Revo's & may see another 10-15k with them. I'm also putting over 500 hp & 1060 lb/ft of torque through them too........

I put a set of the ProComp Extreme A/Ts on my F250 last year and have been happy with them. They have to be rotated often, or they get noisy, but if you stay on top of it they are fine. Good deep aggressive tread, and good traction on the street also. They wont last as long as the Michelins, but they are tough. I had Michelins on my last truck, they lasted forever and rode great, but seemed to get flats pretty regularly. C-

A lot of Cooper Discoverer ATR's up here. I run 10 plys on my Z71, don't notice too rough a ride, and haven't had a flat tire in 110,000 miles, the first 40,000 miles on the truck I had a flat tire every other month.

I put some Dueler Revo's on my jeep. I don't drive it year 'round so I'll be able to spread that cost out quite a bit as they aren't exactly cheap. On my Bronco however I looked around and listened to some people (including here) and settled on the Cooper ATR. It's pretty early on but I've got nothing bad to say about them so far.

My Dodge Ram is on its second set of Michelins (soon to be third)- great tire life, wear evenly, are quiet, and I've been very happy with the traction.

My Michelins usually last 70+ miles. Good traction, tough and quiet. Wish they weren't quite so expensive.
How many miles you have on that Dodge Ram?
