Otherwise known as a 375 Taylor. The 375 Ruger should kill it's reason for being, give or take...

I have a ruger 77 rebarreled to .375 Taylor. Just starting to mess around with it, so I have limited data. The gentleman who sold me the rig, however, gave me his notes on the cartridge.

66 gr of Varget, 260 accubond, vel 2675
64 gr of varget, 300 silvertip, vel 2450
64 gr of varget, 300 sierra, vel 2490
59 gr of RL-15, 260 accubond, vel 2325
66 gr of RL-15, 260 accubond, vel 2675
68 gr of RL-15, 260 accubond, vel 2775
75 gr of RL-15, 235 TSX, vel 2990
235 Speer, 72 gr H4831, vel 2325

Forming brass is a cinch, simply run 338WM brass through a 375/338 die and your done.
Definately a novelty cartridge for me (its my only rifle whose bore is greater that 30 cal.) But I'm having fun with it.

I know two brothers that have collectively used just about everything between a 270Win through to a 460Wby on Sambar deer (elk-sized). Best all-rounder according to one is the good ole 375/338 with a streamlined 260gr. The 375Epstein is another similiar wildcat.
Cheers...

It seems like it would be a natural for chambering in an older Belgian made Browning BAR (they made an African version in 338 Magnum). That would be a nice gun!

The big advantage for the 375CT is that it will fit in a M98 length action w/o the major renovations to the box and feed needed for an H&H length case. With the 700 and M70 the longer case will fit easily and the need for a shorter 338 case is moot.

The 375Ruger, 375H&H and the 375 Chatfield-Taylor offer about the same velocities with minor advantages to each. If one is a handloader, the "factory" advantage is lost with the Ruger and H&H.

I'm on my second 375CT, but have no reason whatsoever to thinks it's any better than the other two. It's on a 22" 700, so the longer H&H would have probably in some respects been a better choice for that action. I get over 2700fps with 270 gr Hornadys with RE15, but the current one I own definately like Nosler 260 ABs better.

This load is pretty hot and not recommended. I tried it once and then backed off. No extraction problems and the primer wasn't cratered, but was flat.

I have built a couple of them for clients and it balistically duplicated the .375 H&H, but its a wildcat and I decided the 375 H&H was the best bet for me..It would be pretty simple I think to chamber it out to the .375 Ruger..I think the Ruger case would clean up the 375 CT chamber.
