Why not just go with the NEF 35 Whelen. I've seen them on gunbroker before.
OR
Go with the T/C Encore and have the custom shop make all your barrel.

On-Target Technologies (http://www.ottllc.com) will do a rechamber of any NEF/H&R barrel for $125. They do VERY good work, and that should put you into a 7x57 from a 7-08, pretty easily and cheaply.
You're out of luck, thus far, on the .35" bores, though.

Mike at OTT rechambered a Handi rifle in 357 mag for me about 4 years ago...turned it into a 358 Bullberry and it is one of my most accurate rifles...I could have made it a 35 Rem or 358 Win as well. If you want a 35 cal..hunt up a 357 mag or 357 max handi barrel and give Mike a call.

The .35 Rem is a reality. New offering this year. I've seen it listed in a couple distributor flyers but don't know if they've shipped any yet. Drop NEF a line and see what they say. BTW, they did some in 7x57 several years ago, you might stumble on a used one if you look long enough.
