has anyone come up with a good load for 36gr varmint grenades for a 223.i'm shooting a savage model 25 with a 1 in 9 twist,not sure if these will work or not,i would like to keep the speed about as fast as i can without sacrificing acuracy.i'm hoping to use either h322 or varget powder

I have a couple boxes of these to load up since we have to be lead-free in the condor zone now - I have one box of the heavier .22 bullets, too - which will have to be used in my Savage as the Kimber .22-250 and CZ .223 do not have fast enough twists for the longer bullet, per Barnes info.
So I will be interested to see what loads have worked. I have those powders along with H-335 and W-748, IMR-3031, etc.

I have tested it with a batch of powders...like about 15 or so different powders, both out of a 223, and 22.250
I haven't tried it out of my Savage with the one in 9 twist...
I use that rifle for the heavier bullets..
but for accuracy in a one in 12 twist rifle...
25 grains of H 322 or 27.5 grains of Varget...
both were safe in my rifles...but still work up...

I and a friend both tried a couple boxes of the grenades, he lives in Michigan and I'm in Idaho. Both of us got very eratic accracy. Weighed the bullets and mine varied as much as 2.1 grs and Don never did say how much his varied only that it was alot. Good Luck with them, it's a great idea but I won't be buying anymore of them.

benchmark works for me!!! I tried 335 10X h4895 was ok but benchmark was the best Right off hand I believe it was around the 26.4gr range but not sure. try benchmark and work up safely!!

4198 worked well for a friend of mine with the 36 grain V.G. Don't remember the charge weight though. It was in a Cooper and not a "fast" twist. You my want to try the 50 grain V.G.they are made for the faster twists.
*To stabilize in flight, 45-grain Banded Spitzers and 53-grain TSX bullets require a 1:12” or faster
twist; 62-grain TSX and 55-grain MPG bullets need a 1:9” or faster twist.
The 36-grain Varmint Grenade works fine in barrels with a 1:14” twist, while the 70-grain TSX
needs a 1:8” or faster twist. The 50-grain Varmint Grenade requires a 1:10" or faster twist.
