Went deer hunting today. I went to my ussualy place. A stretch of rimrocks, bluffs and canyons that doesnt get much attention from most folks due to how steep it is. However there are a few of the Larger bluffs that come down to about 400ish yards from the road.

I still hunted my way to my favorite canyon. Stopping to glass from every vantage point along the way. I was very surprised that I hadnt seen a single deer, but maybe they were still holed up from the recent storm?

Anyways I'm perched on a rock overlooking my favorite canyon, giving my binoculars yet another work out. Just as I lowered my binoculars a rock about 20' away from me seems to explode as a bullet ricochetted off of it! I hit the deck as I can hear 2-3 rifles booming away from waaayyyyy down at the road. I scramble up to a safer spot and listened to bullets smacking against the rocks around my hidey hole only to go screaming off in another direction. Wanna talk about pucker factor?

From the road it looks like one very tall bluff. But in reality its a tall bluff that has numerous shelves and bencheswith bluffs at the back of them. I was on one of those benches. When they finnally stopped shooting, I let loose. I let them and every other person in the gawddamn state know that I wasnt happy about having bullets whizz around me. I was still in my lil safe spot and I know they could hear me. I could hear a chuckle from them every now an then. There flat out wasnt any noise besides them and the birds. No wind no nothing. They could hear me.

But nope, they didnt care. The shooting soon started back up again.Enough is enough!! I cant leave my lil hole as I gotta pretty much scale the side of the bluff on a lil game trail and no way am I goona do that with them shooting at whatever they please.

So I crawl towards a large roack on the edge of the bluff. The edge of it is notched out and I should be able to see where they are at. I'm absolutley livid as I know they heard me hollering at them, but they didnt care. If I can get a couple rounds through thier truck maybe it will make my point a little more clear.

Just before I get to the rock on the edge of the bluff they shoot at it. Im greeted with a facefull of rock chips and a bullet zinging by close enough to make every hair on my body stand up. Scratch that Idea.

Ended up having to crawl along the shelf I was on until I got to the edge of the bluff that was bordered by heavy timber. Had to 1/2 climb and 1/2 fall to the ground and then hike up to the top of the mountain, and skirt around the bluffs and majority of the rimrocks before I could finnally get into a stretch of heavy timber that would allow me to get to my truck.

4 hours later I got to the ranger and believe me the hunt was on. Never did find the Azzholes, probly best anyways. I now have a hunch as to why I wasnt seeing any deer in that area though.
