Here are a couple pics of Conetrol rings:

They are VERY nice rings. Relatively expensive, and can be a pain to install, but worth it.

Yes, I'm sure they're lows, definitely with a 3-9X40 scope. This may not work with a thicker barrel.
To be positive I'll throw a caliper on them when I get home tonight.
Jeff, thanks. That's my pet 30-06. I kinda like that one too!

And are yall using the Huntur model? Pricey, but good looking rings.
Hmmm: Talley or Conetrol

Go Gunnur rings if you plan on leaving the scope on the rifle permanently. But definitely go Custum bases. The two lower grades are blocky and butt ugly.
Talley or Conetrol? I run both. The Talley LW's are 2.22 oz vs 4.23 oz for the Conetrols. And if you can zip your own pants, you can install the Conetrols, they just take a bit of patience.

Nice stuff. His advertisements are always fun to read... The S&K's are pretty darn nice too.

I have a pair on a Ruger M77 (I believe they discontinued making them though) that look good.

For many years, they kept a well used .458 at the Conetrol shop with a low power scope mounted with a single ring to demonstrate strength and holding ability. I had heard of it for a number of years before I got to see it, but then I'm easily impressed. Of those I have (some about 35 years), no scope has ever even thought about moving in the rings.

The top pic is mediums. Can't see the bottom one well enough to tell.

The set of Conetrol I bought back in 1977 were designed for Allen wrenches, have they updated?

Sorry for forgetting to get back to this.
Sid is right, the top photo is mediums. Lows would work fine with a Leupold 3-9X40 but flip-up covers might require some sanding so they would clear.
The M70 on the bottom definitely has low rings.

My dad runs the Conetrol bases with Gentry rings. Looks sweet and avoids the mishaps that sometimes accompany the Conetrol rings.

RickF,
What size screw holes do they use, ex. 6/48 or 8/40 threads?
To any one,
Can they be modified to take the larger diameter screw holes simply by tapping them out by a qualified gunsmith?
Thanks

They do put quite the headlock/ring marks on a scope if your the type to swap and sell scopes. Look great though.

Hi Lefty,
Conetrol uses the factory standard 6-48 screws. And they certainly could be tapped out, it would be a very easy job with the flat top base they have.
