I haven't been around the airgun market in 20 years and was interested in one of the new high velocity air guns.
Thanks, Kevin

Spring Guns or PCP's? What velocity are you looking to achieve? I have a Beeman R7 that I consider 'the best' (I have ever owned) fast, not really 670fps; accurate, increadibly!

I see Gamo has one that shoots 1600 with PBA ammo, but RWS has one that will shoot .22 cal around 1100 fps.
I had and still have some of the old, but good Crossman .177 and .22 cals. This is back when they were metal and not plastic. The seals are busted on them and just never replaced anything on them.I couldnt begin to tell you how many groundhogs, squirrels, rabbits, and birds I killed with those.

I have had the opportunity to shoot the rifle 6.5whitetail described and while it does have very good velocity, it's not a gun you'll want to shoot all day unless you are a very strong man. Takes a good amount of strength to cock.

I am going to use it to small game hunt instead of a .22 rifle. I thought also it would be an interesting thing to take with me to the range while I'm letting barrels cool.
Wood or composite it doesn't matter. I'll take a good accurate .177 , but prefer a harder hitting 900-1100 .22 cal. I dont think the weight of cocking is to much of a problem. I will take my daughter to the range and let her learn to shoot with it.( No she wont be able to cock the high power ones, but I'm just teaching her to shoot.) She is only 7 ,but when she was 3 I had her shooting @ cans with a .22 rifle she seeemed to enjoy that.
Thanks, Kevin

Weihrauch...they build the beeman r7 but have a better selection under their own name.

I couldnt stand the agony and bought a RWS-350 Magnum- .177. Now I need a good scope recommendation.
Thanks, Kevin

Good Luck with the new shooter. The RWS 350 is a big, long, powerful gun. If you can master shooting that machine you will be able to shoot any gun very well. As for the scope a good lower prices scope is the Bushnell Banner 3.5X10. Have fun with it.

More important than the scope is the Mount. The spring action will make a cheap mount slip, making even the best scope useless. I have a BKL 1 piece .007 Drooper mount for RWS and a Muzzle Brake from my M34P I'd sell - let me know if you are interested.

I have a Beeman R-1 in .20 cal., and love it. Wonderfully accurate. Very well made. Have shot tons of birds with that gun. A real shooter. Not cheap, but well worth the price.

The best would probably be Anschutz but for spring piston, high velocity, the best would be either Beeman or RWS. I have a Beeman R 1 in .20 cal that's easily 20 years old. My friend has one the same vintage in .177 and both are still in use, and...... still in production. It's the best value in their line and you get all the quality Beeman is famous for without the big dollars.
