Greetings gentlemen. I just found your site researching a savage 99E and am hoping you can help me out. I was down at at the local gunstore today and noticed a 99 on the used rack. I don't know much about the 99, but I've always thought they were neat. I didn't think about it much, but after I came home, I called the shop and got some more information. It is a 99E, serial number 1,151,XXX .300 savage, rotary magazine. The stock is pretty beat up, but the shop owner said the barrel was good. Metal conditon looked pretty good. I think I might take a closer look tomorrow. For you experts; What general year do you think this is? (I read about the lever code and do not have that info). What is a rifle like this worth (poor wood, decent metal)? Is there anything specifically I should look for? Thanks for your help. EFR

I'm not sure of the year I would say a 1970's model, also does it have a brass shell counter and rotary magazine, the brass models are worth more. deerhunterguns

It was made in 1967, the model E's won't have a shell counter.
