What the verdict on Helly Hansen's Impertech gear? I'm looking for a relatively light PVC coat and pants for the rainy season here in Oregon; something I can roll up and stick in a pack when the sun comes out.

They have a fair amount of stretch and are more flexible compared to other PVC rain gear. Definitely priced right when compared to Gore Tex. I can't keep the pants up, wish they had some grip at the waist. I should probably try spenders with them. The bib's are kinda tall in front but great for fishing. Thumbs up here.

Great stuff. Along with Xtra-Tuf boots, just about every Alaskan who spends quite a bit of time outdoors has a set or at least a Helly Hansen rain jacket.

Best rain gear I've ever worn in my limited experience. I've worn lots of Gortex and that stuff just isn't water proof. I bought the Impertec gear for my SE Alaska black bear hunt. I never got wet the whole week I was up there. Get the bibs much better than the pants IMO.

Lucky to be me. My wife picked me up a Helly Hansen Equipe jacket today at a thrift store for the unheard of price of $17. I had to go look at it. Only thing wrong is fob is broken off zipper pull hardly looks like it was ever worn. Now if she can just find me the pants to go with it......

Impertec is the best rain gear that I've used. It's fairly light weight and packable. Goretex, IMO, isn't true rain gear, though it has its uses.

I think you will give up the other stuff once you give it try on a really wet day.

Gear that works sells itself. Impertec works. End of story.

Though I should confess that, after seven years of wearing the pants and jacket an average of probably 150 days a year, mine are starting to wear at the seams a bit. Maybe the things are no damn good... .
