Not a very big bodied deer, is it? Good enough for me. I'll take a 100# deer that score 230 any day.

Rob Uhhh, that goes without saying. Just commenting on how the headgear is quite seemingly out of proportion to the body. Anyone wanna make some age approximations/speculation on this guy?

I know he's pretty old cause his tongue is hanging out and he's drooling + he's got a AARP tag around his neck.
Scott, trying to round up some pictures of my Muzzleloader buck shot last Friday.
After I shot it, looking through the binoc's, it looked like a fawn with massive horns on his head. It's a perfect 8 with piles of mass and height. Not butchered or scored yet.

Seems as though I'm not good with my own pictures..I get most other friends and family but mine seem to fall by the wayside.
Hmmm, gonna have to change that.

I'm betting that buck is from a lot further south than St. Albans, Missouri.
Phenomenal buck obviously...

Phenomenal buck obviously... well living here in st. louis just 40 mi from the st. albens area i can say i would not be surprised if it turns out that deer was shot there. the Missouri Monarch was found within less than 40 mi of st. louis. this is the first i've seen of this buck, looks like i need to poke around a few places to see if anything else is out there on it. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.mosportsmen.com/hunting/deer/deernews/missourimonarch.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.mosportsmen.com/hunting/deer/missourimonarch.htm&h=429&w=500&sz=36&tbnid=ByEuWe861okRyM::&tbnh=112&tbnw=130&prev=/images%3Fq%3DMissouri%2BMonarch&usg=__eDDLoAeKK_-l8awFKIlZqILCp5Y=&sa=X&oi=image_result&resnum=5&ct=image&cd=1

I lived for several years just six miles from where the "Missouri Monarch" was found dead... I've hunted the St. Albans area extensively years back when I went to College in St. Louis (lived in what eventually became "Wildwood" Missouri). I've seen several deer in the 180+ class in that area, including watching one all summer that came out every evening and was a genuine 200+ class B&C buck... none had that sort of puny body, including many i shot that were younger than the deer shown above. Also, have never seen the sort of foliage in the pics in that area either.
Obviously I could be dead-wrong... I'm well aware of that. Just doesn't look like Missouri or a Missouri deer from the St. Albans area that I remember.

the body on that buck looks like it was sick almost. like the skin is hanging from the skeleton somewhat. and no wound or blood in the picture. it's not the foliage that has me scratching my head it is the some what wasted look of the body of the deer.

I'd find it hard to believe anything other than an exceptionally healthy deer could grow those antlers... I still think that isn't a MO buck but I've been wrong (big time) before (grin)...
