I can't find any info on the 6mm-'06. Is it the same ballistically as the 240 Weatherby? How fast is it with 85-95gr bullets? Anybody know, or got one? I looked at the 240Wby in loaddata and it was slower than I thought it would be.

virtually identical to the 240 wby in case capacity. Sledgehammer on deer. I think mine edges the weatherby by a tad, but give or take they're about twins and the brass is cheap. One stroke on 25-06 brass and she's ready to roll. I'd have to go look up exact numbers, but if I recall correctly mine will push 85-87 gr. bullets 3550ish.

Loaded up 40 rounds for it yesterday. Mine will push 85gr XLC's and 87gr v-maxes 3600ish out of 24" tube. Let me know if you need any more help. It holds 1/2-1gr more powder than the 240 Roy, depending on brand of brass......

Bulletbutt-I've been running a 6/06 for some time now, it's a nice fun and user friendly round. I feel it has a tish bit more gas than the 240 Wby, but not enough to think twice about. I kind of like a wildcat but could easily of done the 240 Wby, especially as a travel rifle.
My first tube was a 25" Schneider 4 weight 10 twist and it ran a bit faster than my present tube. But, I now run 85's with H4831 @ 3500-3600 lot of powder depending.
95's should see you in the 3400-3500 range lot of powder and slow/fast barrel depending.
Either way, it has plenty of petrol behind it.
Good luck on your build if you do it. If you were gonna be taking it out of country I'd encourage you to consider just doing the 240.

Brass is so cheap I don't worry too much about stretching, but I haven't had any trouble with it. Mark's the one that talked me into doin' the one I've got. Mine's built on a Winny pushfeed with a 1-10" pacnor tube cut at 26". I went back and forth between doin' the 240 and the 6-06 and it was totally a coin toss. Brass is cheap, but dies will cost ya more in the upfront. I decided to go the 6-06 mostly cause of Mark's good feedback and I'm glad I did. 25-06 brass can be had anywhere and everywhere and I never worry about not finding it. As Mark mentioned the only real reason to go with the 240 is if you're going out of the country where you need headstamped brass and you might could get 6-06 from Quality cartridge if ya really wanted it. I double checked my chrony numbers and it'll push 95 nbt's at about 3475 and 85 TSX and 87 v-maxes about 3550 with a healthy dose of RL-22. Haven't tried other powders much as mine loves the current loads. Wicked fast, flat shootin', no recoil and definitely a little cool factor. what's not to like.

I've not noticed anymore stretching with this round than any other. Point being like an 06 or 270 or my 6/06 I need to trim every 3rd firing.
If AI'd I'm sure it'd be even less though.
For the 95's I also like R22 or R25.

Dober Dober, If AI'd it'd probably be over bore (just me thinkin here) and I wonder how a .243 AI would compare to the standard 6/06? Apples to apples I've read that the .243 AI will add 100fps or so to the standard chamber....will that step into the 6/06 realm? This is just a fishin trip to me...I run the standard .243 - but wonder about the possibilities..... Where's the point of no returns?

Thanks guys. I'm pondering one later this year. I've got a 270 Weatherby and was contemplating doing a 257 Weatherby, but they're kind of close, and...well, you know It just seems like it would really be a flat shooter, and with TTSXs and TSXs now, it seems the package would be hard to beat. Is a 1 in 10 twist ok for 100 grainers? That's what is standard in the 243, isn't it? Or would you go faster twist if you were doing it now?
