I often wonder a bit, at the people asking about what loads to use in their guns on the forums, and some of the answers. To a certain extent, I guess they don't know where to look, or are overwhelmed by the info that is available, or perhaps think there will be some magic formula available. Or is it related to the phenomenon I see elsewhere, of people not being able to, or being willing to, think thru a problem to a solution.
It really is a bonus to have all that data available, but, the basics are the basics, and quite often a lot of the data shown for a given cartridge, is common across the board, for a given bullet weight. There is usually a reason for that.
Online info can be very useful for finding data for obscure or obsolete stuff, that is not in a manual, but certainly needs to be verified still. Sometimes that is a process and a half in itself. It is interesting how much info the various companies have that is not published, and in talking to them, they sometimes will tell you they ran into issues, so it didn't get published, for that reason. Or, they just flat haven't had the time and money to do that combo.

Use Hodgdon online data a lot, but also use Ramshot/Accurate a lot as well. Alliant, occasionally.

And I have books as well. smile

With components being scarce and you might have to buy different stuff because of that, more data is needed to match things up. On line is a big help. That link to Steve's site in another post is a good one. First time that I have seen it. miles

Yeah. That stupid Hodgon/IMR/Winchester powder company doesn't know WTF they're talking about.

If they'd put that info into a book, they'd be onto something.

Yup, the internet is dying, hard copies are the way of the future.

I use a lot of data off the Internet, from sites by the bullet manufacturers, powder companies, etc., such as Barnes, Nosler, IMR, Winchester, and so forth.
